Environmental Policy

PTL is committed to a policy of responsible sourcing.

The company has invested in Chain of Custody systems and is committed to buying 3rd party certified stocks when available. The company can offer FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Pan European Forest Certification) through bespoke systems. PTL also hold a Forest Products Chain of Custody Certificate under a scheme administered by BM TRADA. This allows the company to handle timbers sourced under various national certification schemes, such as MTCC (Malaysian Timber Certification Council). The company gained full Chain of Custody certification in 2003 and was among the first timber companies in the UK to do so.

PTL maintains an Approved Supplier Data Base. To maintain ‘approved’ status suppliers must demonstrate positive and improving environmental credentials. These systems are designed to ensure that PTL gives preference to suppliers that are committed to sustainable forest management.
